- Do I have to pay to start?
- Every account gets one 14-day free trial. We do collect a card up front, so you don't have to remember to come back — but we won't charge it until day 14, and you can cancel any time before then straight from your account. There's only one trial per person; signing up with a new email address doesn't qualify for another.
- How does pricing work?
- Per pet, per month, with volume discounts as your family grows: $3/pet for 1–4 pets, $2.50/pet for 5–7, $2.25/pet for 8–9, and $2/pet for 10 or more. One pet is $3/mo. Five pets is $12.50/mo. Ten pets is $20/mo.
- What if I add or lose a pet mid-month?
- Adding a pet: you'll be charged the prorated difference right away and the new pet is available immediately. If you're on your free trial, the new pet is included at no extra cost and your trial still ends on the original date — it doesn't reset. Removing a pet: your lower rate takes effect at your next renewal. We don't issue credits for the current billing period, but you'll keep access to that pet's records and share page through your paid-through date. Memorial pages stay with you free, forever.
- How does the Feed a Rescue donation work?
- $0.50 of every $3 per-pet membership — 100% of it — goes into a shared rescue food fund. We pool those dollars, buy quality bags of food, and ship them straight to volunteer-run rescues. Every shipment is posted publicly on our Impact page with the date, bag count, and the rescue's name — verifiable directly with the rescue. We deliberately don't promise a fixed bag count per membership: food prices, shipping, and partner programs shift every quarter, and we'd rather log the real shipment than a marketing number.
- What about sales tax or VAT?
- Sales tax, VAT, or GST is added on top of your subscription at checkout, based on your billing address. Stripe calculates the right amount, collects it with your payment, and files and remits it to the tax authority on our behalf for buyers in ~80 countries. Your receipt will show the tax as a separate line. Note: your bank statement will read “LINK.COM* PETLYS” for these payments.
- Is yearly cheaper?
- Yes — pay yearly and save about 17% (twelve months for the price of ten). Try Petlys free for 14 days first — if it's not for you, cancel before the trial ends and you're never charged.
- Can I share their records with my vet?
- Yes. Create a private, revocable share link for a vet or family member — they can view what you've shared, nothing more. You keep the originals here on Petlys, in one place, always up to date.
- What about when they're gone?
- Their story doesn't go anywhere. Memorial pages stay open, free, forever — even if you close your account entirely.
